Default Very low key lighting

First time ever trying this type of photo so I decided to take a self portrait.

Was after a mysterious, dark unknown type of look. I definitely got the style I
was after. Any way thought I would see what you guys/gals think.

I plan on using it on my website, why I put the tag on there. I like where it is lol

Flash coming from the side, about foot and 1/2 away from me.

Well, I do not know much about working with external flash and strobes, but the effect you got here is very nice and very fashion magazine types.

Regards,
Aakash

Very very nice. Love the lighting and the effect you got.... I also think the tag would be cool centered over the eye that's dark, but love it as is too....

I think it looks really good have you considered using a smaller hair light behind the head to reveal a silloututte on the other 1/2 of your face and hat?

Jason, someone else thought the same thing I do....
Maybe the tag being shifted up a bit to line up with the eyes....
Did you try the light a bit farther back might give a more definite line of the top of the head.....might just need about 4-6 inches more....
After anther look maybe try a variation of shifting the tag up to the eyeline and then color change your eye to the same color as in the tag for your last name....might look pretty sweet.....

my one and only thought was the bring the color of your eye out a bit more. realy make it opo. You have such beaitiful eyes that i think it would really make a difference

Really cool image - beautiful detail in the light ares. I like the typesetting too. Agree about lifting out the colour in the eye just a slight little bit - just for effect.

Thanks so much for the comments. Very much appreciated.

I will definitely try bringing the color in the eye out some more. I like the sounds of it.

As for small hair light I was hoping I could try that but my 2nd receiver broke (tipped light stand ) Next time.

Probaly just because I'm an old codger, but this looks better to me if the shadow line down your nose is vertical. Rotating the image also tilts your hat (and we all know that a hat's not a hat 'til it's tilted, don't we ).

I agree about moving the tag to your eyeline.

Great image though, very cool!
