Default Matchstick Box

I photographed this box I made out of matchsticks. The background is simply a sheet of printer paper, lit with a 500w halogen light from the right and 75w standard bulb from the left.

I was just playing around with 'magazine style' shooting.

Pretty cool box. I like the photo. Although there seems to be a red haze on the right.

You have too much time on your hands if you not only made the box but also photographed it Though I suppose if I put that together I'd take a picture too I think it looks good though. The white background is clear, the matches seem well exposed and crisp, and the box really does just look kinda neat.

Different shot, pretty cool.

I couldn't stand it..................I'd have to light it on fire.

Aaah, a fellow pyro; I was just thinking "Man, he should have ignited it! It would have looked way cooler!" But then I just tell that strange little leprechaun to shuddup and think that this is a really cool shot! I love the box.. It looks really cool (better if it were ignited - shuddup!).

Very nice. 500W is a bright hot light, but there are no dark shadows. Did you use something to diffuse the light?

Yes, I held a piece of white wrapping foam from work in front of it, for a softbox effect. I'm going to build a softbox out of the stuff this weekend.

Also, I duplicated the bottom layer in ps, brightened the crap out of it, then added a layer mask and painted out the shadows a bit.

Thanks for the comments!
