Default Forgotten Beauty

Pictures 046

Taken with Kodak EasyShare Z650
I love the look of this car so had to take a photo of it.

Thoughts for improvement?
Feel free to make any adjustments to the photo.

Thanks for the lessons

PCYarrow,

Kodak in the right hands still knows how to handle light. Is this b/w mode? There's such a strong face to the car, not headlights-as-eyes, but windshield, hood protuberance, and turned-down grill. Sad car. Goodphoto.

Yes this was taken in b&w mode. I really enjoy black and white especially for things like this old car.

Default sweet!

I think this is a really awesome shot, i love the subject and the black white is great for this, really makes me feel the age and forgotteness of the car. The only thing i personally think would make it better is if you could have scraped the snow off the top part of the car (it does give a feeling of forgotten but I keep looking at that instead of the car and how neat it is) I made a mock up in photoshop so you could see how it might of looked. this is really minor and the shot is really great!

Default Wow

I totally love both shots but I think the one without the snow is a little more dramatic. Great shot.

Just a helpful hint I've found, it's often better to shoot in color then convert to B&W on your machine in photoshop with the channel mixer in monochrome mode as it gives you much more control over the outcome and depth.

Shooting in the camera's native B&W mode always ends up looking a little flat to me.

Thank you for the idea of changing it in photoshop. I have just purchased the program and trying to learn how to use it.

I'm gonna disagree; I actually like the snow more. The car is almost too symmetrical somehow; the snow on that side but not the other breaks the balance and adds some tension. It gives the shot more life, for me.

JoshKeefer,

Results of your work show attention to detail and gave an interesting variation on original. But PCYarrow has given a dusty, undisturbed look to her photo that title suggests. Even her snow looks old and neglected.
