I took this picture of a wall at a local park back in July using my Kodak EasyShare Z650. Any suggestions on things I could have done different are greatly appreciated as I'm just starting out. Could probably tell with the kind of camera I'm using

I am by no means a macro expert! But my first thought is that you shot it in bright sunlight. I'm thinking some shade/cloud cover might make it a little less overexposed and bring out the colors of the pebbles.
It's a great texture.

Your comments are spot on. Looking at this photo now I can see that it is too much sunlight on the subject. I was drawn to the texture I saw with my eye when I actually took the photo.
Is there things I can do to help bring more shade to a subject when it is in a highly sunny area? Thanks

I've been known to crouch over something and use my shadow to provide shade! That can sometimes be too dark, though. An umbrella, maybe? A white t-shirt? I never really thought about it--I always just used my shadow or came back later.

Hi,
It's a good basic shot of pebbles...to add interest if there was a larger rock, twigs or a leaf nearby...something unexpected to contrast with the pebbles. Have you tried converting the image to black and white? Have fun when out shooting photos...try different things. Good luck! |
