Default He shoots, He scores!

Went to a hockey game Wednesday night. Got to see one of my all time favorite players in goal, so i took my camera and tried some shots out. Granted we were about 150 feet from him, but I think they came out ok. What do you guys think?

Not bad. Now try some during the game. I sometimes have brought a monopod or go down to the photographer's holes on some rinks.

Martin Brodeur! (Did I spell that right?) Pretty decent shot, better than some of the shots the Pens took that night.

First of all, nice captured, although i found it hard to find which puck i was looking for at first (maybe clone the others out?), and i haven't really figured it out yet. I'm thinking it's the one, almost going through the net?

I would like to see some more post-processing on the picture. It looks kinda red-ish in the colors. (but i'm just a PS-adict)

Overall, it's a nice shot, with a capture of great movement.

You are right, it was the one almost going thru the net. Here is another one from warmups. i was having trouble with the setting because of the lighting in the arena.

Oh my, this looks awesome!

I love the movement of the goalie. Very nice shot.

I took the liberty of editing the photo, to show you how to get rid of the redish look of the picture, i hope you don't mind.

Conrail Kid's Martin Brodeur sticksave shot

Here's is what i did (all in Photoshop, but i think it should be possible in the most other programs to)

- First of all, i opened up the picture, and went to Image->Adjustments->Color balance, and set the red color to -30, on shadows, middle, and highlights.
This should probably get rid of the redish look, if not, you could try fiddling around with the color balance even more. (this technique can be used for all kinds of pictures with an uneven color balance)

To get the final result i did this:
- Duplicated the layer, desaturated it, made it soft light, and made it opacity 80%
- Duplicated the background layer again, put it on top, made it overlay, and made it opacity 80%
- Duplicated the background layer once again, put in top, and made it overlay.

Hope you could use the technique.
