I liked the composition and the light in the shot. But the title fire does not justify itself, the flame is overexposed. The position of the cigerettes makes it stand out.

Although your idea is nice and technically the shot is good, I don´t think the fire gets the attention of the viewer or is as stunning as it should be.

I agree with the others about the flame. Fire is hard to get just right so with that being said you did a nice job. I might also try a lighter that is newer and less scratched up tho

Thumbs up Fire

Love the composition! The fire is not defined enough though, hard thing to do. All in all, nice photo!

JonCarlos, Welcome

Yes to a better, smaller flame, and newer lighter. Perhaps turned more to the left, reflecting the glowing tip of a cigarette, in an ashtray pointed towards lighter, but not actually in the frame? Then a closer shot would show mostly lighter, reflecting cig in tray. Green ashtray, red/orange/yellow flame. Just a view.

Maybe keeping penlight away from flame would give better results there?

I like the beat up lighter and even the composition. I think it could stand to be warmed up a bit considering the feel I *think* you're going for. I've played with some very basic settings for a different feel. I agree though, that the flame should be a bit more defined...it gives too much movement to a shot that should be low n' slow.

I agree with what everyone was saying about the flame. However, i like the idea of the scratched up lighter, it made me think it was well used. having said that have you thought about a shot with the beat up lighter and a broken cigarette in front? giving the mood of someone who is struggling with quitting smoking.

If you had angled the cigarettes (I was going to say fags then remembered there are a majority of Americans here ) towards the lid of the Zippo you could have had the flame at the third point. Just a thought.
