lol No, it's not that bad. Can't blame you for wondering though since it is a SP Decent composition, decent lighting, but if I didn't know it was a SP, I would've thought it was a candid shot of someone who didn't know you were shooting. Unfortunately, nothing really draws me in, but I couldn't say why. Have you tried SPs with more dramatic lighting or looking more into the camera? It may give a sense of something that draws you in more. Keep shooting (don't worry, I hate self-portraits of myself, so good on you for posting one of you for critique )

I think it works pretty well although it does make your ear look very pink, emphasised by the fact that it is in the light while the rest of your features are in shadow.

@Nicole: Glad you liked the lighting as that was really the purpose of the excercise. Taken at 10pm with no flash, just light from the table lamps and TV. I haven't got an off camera flash yet but, if Santa brings that SB600, I'll have a go with better lighting after Christmas.

@Wulf: I really should have done something about that ear shouldn't I? Cosmetic surgery maybe?

Is it that pink or has the colour been emphasised by the lighting?

To be honest Wulf I have no idea. I rarely see my ears from that angle.

Ten hours was enough for me yesterday. This would have twice the effectiveness if you had turned the other way. As if you were looking out a window, lighting your eyes, lessening the "pink," and generally better illustrating the look. Everything else would be fine.
