Default Tibetian Landscape

Miles of barren rocky landscape, with snow covered mountaintops and no company - this is Indian side of the Tibetian pleatue, the world's highest rooftop, with an average height of 17,000 ft.

DSC_0087 copy

EXIF
ISO 200, F/20, 1/100 secs, -2/3 EV, Aperture Priority, Circular polariser to cut of the white reflection of snow and to darken the skies. It was taken under scorching overhead sun at noon.

Please let me know your comments.

Thanks,

I think it looks great not much to improve on in the technical aspect or with cropping I bet this would look great in black and white.

I have to ask because of your comment about being under the scorching skies. Did you put in another sky as its so dark?
Pretty impressive scenery

Looking at it I feel the sky is inserted.....looking at the right hand ridge its just too crisp....
this is a great shot and amazing that it was taken in "scorching skies" as you said.
Nice shot.

hard to tell if the sky was dropped in but I don't think so a simple selective color adjustment on the blue channel and moving the black slider will get the same effect as an under exposed sky.

I agree with Murtasma that i think it would look great b/w. This shot gives a feel of being on the moon or somewhere where the day sky is like night being so bright. Hard to imagine it being a scorching day with it being so dark. Having said the shot really packs a punch with the colours. I think you did right with the snow keeping the exposure down. and the framing is wonderful...

Here's the B&W version, but I feel the sky and rocky forground is getting mixed up because of very minor difference in contrast.

The sky is not inserted, this is a straight from the camera shot, taken at 12:27 under blues sky and blinding reflection of the snow with sun behind the camera. But, as I said, use of a circular polariser and exposure reduction by 2/3rds has darkened the sky to this extent. The crispness of the right hand ridge is because of the unsharp mask, that section has probably got a minor pixellation.

Thanks for taking a look and letting me know how you feel, honestly it gives me a lot of encouragement to experiment.
