Default A portrait

Here's some portrait work I did this evening. Yeah yeah, I'm a sucker for some post processing. Let me know - is it too unnatural? Did I crop too tight? I know the hair isn't seperated from the background very well, I may try and tackle that issue tomorrow, depending on the willingness of the model. Would a white b/g work better? Seems to me white would bring too much brightness to the image. Anyway, thanks for cc.

I am sure this technique will appeal to many but for me, I prefer a more conventional approach to portraiture. Possibly cropped alittle too tightly. You are on the right track with the dark background. However the highkey lighting and post work doesn't favor her darker hair and background. Did you shoot any with her in a darker outfit?

This reminds me of the old victorian paintings. Sometimes a lighter background can work on a subject like this but it can totally wash it out. Try it and see.

I think adding a slight cracked texture over this image would look cool try masking the crack effect to just her skin as well. Also have you tried a black and white conversion?

Holy Mackeral! My monitor died today. I put my circuit city card to use and bought a 19" lcd display, first lcd display I've ever owned. The photo above looks so different! I've got some editing to do... what I'm wondering is do my images look different on every monitor out there, or is it just the diff. between crt and lcd? Ah well, thanks for the comments, folks. I'm going to work on this some more.
