Default Leaf

This was taken the first day I had my D50. Apart from the good bit of noise(high ISO) and overall darkness(no sunlight that day) any other tips? Should I crop parts of it off?

I shot this through a window, so with the conditions I think it came out alright. However there is always room to improve. Maybe next time try to get more in focus? I can't decide if I want that lower white drop to be in focus or not.

first, hope you're enjoying the new camera.
as far as the picture goes, it's underexposed. a crop would work wonders to make it look more like a macro shot. the 2nd drop that is blurry is distracting. the colors are pretty bland.
are you using a tripod? try lighting the object if you can or if you can't try a longer shutter speed to lighten up the shot.

Demo24,

That red spot on end of leaf, lower center, would be more interesting if you took off about 1/3 of the left and 1/3 of the right (leaving a portrait), got rid of blurry white spot, brightened everything a little - could be quite a shot. I almost don't want to ask . . . what is the drop?

Thanks for the suggestions/critcism! Will take those into account next time.

I have brightened it slightly, so thats not how it was originally. Sadly it doesn't brighten to much more before it becomes a bit washed out.

I did not have a tripod, so shutter speed was limited.

As for the drop, I think it's paint that dropped on the leaf when they were painting the house. I have no idea how long thats been though as I can't remember the last time that part of that house was painted.

Demo24,

Want to leave it, or could I have a go at it? Repost it in an hour or less . . .

Your welcome to have a go at it. I'd be interested to see what you could do to it. I'm still new to photoshop(although that wasn't edited in photoshop).

Demo24,

Doing two at a time, took a little longer than expected. Some nice color things here; aimed to give drop some shape and age. Only you know how it really looks. This isn't PS, but you could certainly do more in PhotoShop.

Have fun with it.
