The colors and the photo look prett damn good on my monitor. I actually like the tag as well although I do not understand why the models would care if you put your name on it or not. Whatever as long as they keep coming for shoots just do whatever makes them happy.
The one thing I dont like about this photo is that her fingers are lost in the folds of her dress. It is a very minor detail tho not a big deal just being picky. Nice shot as usual Jason

Very nice lighting and colours. I'm still amazed at the results you're getting in a study area (don't the flashing strobes bother people trying to study?
). Despite disliking tags in general, I actually didn't find yours distracting (possibly because it's a fashion type shot, so I expect there to be some writing there )... even though you only mentioned it so as not to draw attention to it lol. But yes, it looks good. What Rex said I have to agree with though. Once he mentioned it and I looked, it looked like she was scratching something. Overall, really well done. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! To be precise, double wow! The shot looks absolutely great, the colors are very cool on a calibrated SyncMaster 226BW. I absolutely like the soft shadows on the grey background. Very cool!

Top notch shot Jason! It does look studio quality and for being in a school's common study area? Just fantastic......

This is a great shot! I too would like it if her fingers weren't lost in her dress.
I don't see anything wrong with putting your name on a photo...especially one that took time to set up. You took the time to share your photo and the details of how you took it...more than reasonable. As a matter of fact, that's a nice tag too!

LOL so very true. It is easy to pick things apart when you are not the one taking/editing the photos. Sometimes you just have to step back and see the bigger picture or just come back to it later. Unfortunately this does not do too well when you only have the model for 1 day and want to get all the shots right. Probably why people take hundreds of shots on every shoot so that all poses, exposures, minor details will be covered.

I think you have shown talent in the portrature area having seen a variety of your work. The facial shadows give her a "hard' look considering the bouce light into silver umbrellas. Did you intend for it to be this 'hard' a look? Also the slightly upward angle of the light is not as flattering (based on the nose shadow) as a higher light position. The left arm is a bit 'hotter' than the face and draws my attention away because of the brighter tonal value. I like the background effect---well done!

I have always liked the harder look provided by the silver umbrellas. One of the main reason I went with them. How ever I am wanting to pick up some transparent umbrellas so I can try shoot through techniques and get a softer look. From there I can see what I truly like better. Still pretty new to this lighting stuff. Kelsey was kind of all over the place. I had the lights set and placed for one pose. After 1 shot she was all ready doing 6 other poses and all my lighting was out. Models with A D D LOL She was a great sport and for her first time I think she did wonderful. Thanks again everyone. |
