thanks Nicole, black and white photography is great anyways but i think its the only way to go photographing sparklers ,its even more fun when you have the new 400d i just love it,p.s.how do i get a pickie next to my name ive tried uploading ,it wont let me?

Hi Stuart- To get a picture next to your name, you need to upload a picture with a file size smaller than 19.5kb or you can link to a picture from a website. You should be able to do all this from the User Control Panel under "Edit Avatar". If it's not working it's probably because the file size is too big. Try putting the image you want to use up on a website somewhere and then linking to it in Option 1. Hopefully that works for you.

And on the topic of sparklers, I haven't used B&W myself because I like the kind of molten look that I got with this shot (even though it's completely different from the look you went for in your shot):
