Ok got my little studio set up and testing the lighting. Only thing i did was add the background. I'm going to be using a chroma background for most of my work.

It's a beautiful portrait, I say subtract the background and you are there.

I agree, the Christmas decorations grab the attention from the soft portrait. A flatter colour can make it stand out.

The ability to change the background will be good for holidays and work you may do for parents who want a particular theme. It would be worthwhile to also have a good supply of simple abstract color-oriented non-distracting files. Depending on subject's color palette (including clothing), you can use this as a tool to enhance future portraits. Otherwise your portrait is very well done.
