Default Female Cardinal 2-15-07 Please critique

This is my first attempt at posting from Flickr. This image was taken on 2-15-07 in Pickaway County Ohio. It was 1 day after the worst Ice Storm we had seen in years. The shot was taken with a Sony Cybershot DSC-H1. It was almost dark, but the light from the snow prevented my flash from working. Please critique and let me know what I could have done differently, to make this a better shot. Thank you.

Sorting out the white balance would improve it unless you have grey snow in Ohio

I'm not sure how to do that. My camera (Sony Cybershot DSC-H1) has almost all "Automatic" settings. I have no idea how to use it in manual mode, or if it's even possible. The bird was sitting in the shade which didn't help, as well as it was getting dark out. I do appreciate the critique and will research my operator's manual to see if there is something I can do to correct for less than ideal shooting conditions. Thank you.

Just merged your two posts together for you (what happened last time was that the code for the picture got posted as the thread title, but you seem to have sorted it now).

I agree with what has already been said. The snow could be fixed in post-processing so that it looks whiter. Pretty much any program should let you fix that up a little. It may also help to lighten up the bird slightly in post-processing as well. It is a very nice and clear shot, so you have a really nice canvas to work with.
