First off, cute little girl and nice shot! I was wondering what it would look like if you cropped the doorway out of the shot. In other words, crop along the line of the doorway or even somewhere on the arm of the bench.
I was also wondering what the shot would have looked like if you would have centered her in the picture - that would have cut the bench's left third out of the frame, but it would have led toward the direction she was looking. Just wondering. I am such a newbie, it's not even funny, so keep that in mind. ![]() Marcy |

Is this your daughter? reason I ask is that if you can get a reshoot I would try seating the girl on the left side of the bench looking to the right. I like the bench and the simple background the wall makes but feel like she should be looking into the frame not out of it. As for cropping the doorway out.. I think it would be a shame to crop off the bench I would clone the door out instead if I were you.

The first two things that popped into my mind when I saw the pic were the same as Marcy's. Get centered with the bench, and get the door out. In addition to breaking up the image, the light in that hallway/room is the wrong temperature for the rest of your shot. Cute kid as well.

Totally fell the same way. I love the color combinations. The door does take a lot away from the shot, I'd try to do something with it. Seems you had some type of direct overhead lighting going on. I like the shadows of the slats of the bench seat on the floor too. |

I like the composition, maybe cropped a little to get rid of the hallway and just show the bench...but your white balance is off. The blue that you are seeing is natural 52K light...but not white balanced correctly I am thinking your camera is making the image about 38K. I am assuming she is looking out a window, but she is inside creating the blue on her face. Two things you could do to help it out is
1. I don't know what camera you have, but set the WB to outdoor even knowing you are inside the window is flooding the room with outdoor lighting, making the color temp 52k not 32k, or you could do a manual WB with a 100ire white card. 2. In post make the image black and white, since black and white photos don't really show color temp you would get rid of the blue on her face. Other then that it looks nice. If that WB was correct it would be great.
