Hello, this is my first post. =]
I love to take pictures, and I'm eager to learn, so any criticism, good or bad would be appreciated. I didn't edit this picture with anything, it's straight from my digital. Thanks!

Alway try to lock your focus in on the eyes. To cheat a little you can lock your focus in on a certain point and then move your camera a hair to get the focus you want, or if you shoot in aperature mode you can decide which setting will get the more of the subject in focus for you.

Hi. I dont know if its just me but I think your subject its a little out of focus. Whe you shoot people always focus to the eyes. I find the excess detail on the grass a bit to distracting.

I see it was a arm strecthed self portrait.....those I find need a dew consecutive shots...my camera I know I can shoot once then half way press the shutter then again and it will look for another focus point nd do that till you find where its focusing on you.
Now when I used my 50mm I took 42 shots adjusting the focus minute amounts till I got one decent one....good look and great perspective.

one way to do this is to focus it first before moving your arm up to take the self portrait - stretch your arm out at face level, try to aim the lens as close to your eyes as possible, focus lock, then raise it up to recompose your shot without letting go of the shutter release...

Since the relative blurriness of the subject and sharpness of the grass has already been covered (and I think this one is probably going to be easier to reshoot than post-process to make those improvements) I'll pick on another detail. The grass is an interesting background but look at the top - there is some kind of kerb which could be a feature if there was a bit more of it but here looks like one of those "whoops - I forgot to think about the background" moments
![]() I see that WooD cloned it out in his reworking of the shot but I thought that I would mention it as it is an easy detail to miss. Wulf |
