The Last Rose Of Fall

Came home tonight to find a lone rose on the bush by my front door.
Since there was no way I could isolate it in a way I liked, I just shot it and took a stab at PS... placing it on a simple black background.

JonInAtlanta,

This shot looks like neat graphics and good as a record shot of the last bloom before winter sets in.

It is shot from the top with overhead light (may be flash), and barring the miniscule dark shadows there is uniform illumination, so the flower looks flattened. I would definitely have preferred a different angle. In the larger picture, the top petal edged look like having outlines, you can probably use a bit more feather and smudge the dark background towards the petals. The subject is centrally placed with complete black background, this makes it very abrupt, I would have preferred some stalk or leaves.

Excellent and unique rose...the first thing that came to mind as I was looking
at it was...wouldn't it be neat to incorporate some blue into the image somehow and see if you can create some flag theme.
nice photo as is though.
