THis photo seems a bit "Tim Burton".
Any thoughts on the B+W? Or the composition? Only thing that has been edited has been contrast/brightness and some cropping of the bottom of the photo. . . ![]() Thanks for your thoughts! (Uploading to Flickr is partially available again! YAY!!)

I like this one very much! Wulf makes an excellent point in that titles can play an important role in completing the "picture package." A cleverly worded title may also attract more viewers.

I love this shot! I can see what you mean about this seeming Tim Burton like. Could you share some info on how this was shot (such as lighting conditions and EXIF)?
I love the "dark" feel of this and agree that the vignette definitely adds to the composition. It's amazing that such a simple subject could have such a moving effect.

Hi!
Thanks for your kind words. I will take the title into more careful consideration next time!!! The Exif Data is : (I'm still playing around with Adobe Lightroom, so bear with me if it is incomplete) Camera : Canon Rebel Eos 350D Focal Length : 55mm Lens : 18-55mm f/5.6 1/100sec ISO 400 Factors applied in LR: Increase brightness (+115) Increase contrast (+88) Increase recovery (+100) Increase fill light Increase blacks (All of the above - I haven't figured out the correlation to PS yet, although all except "Recover" I"ve come across before. THese things basically applied a fairly generic s-curve across the whole photo). The vignetting is enhanced when I play with the "Recovery". The bottom is cluttered - I agree completely! I've tried to crop as much as is possible. This photo was shot against the sky. It was fairly late in the afternoon/early evening just after I'd finished work, probably about 8:00pm, Canberra time. The lighting conditions were obviously light enough for me to shoot without a tripod (I love the Canberra summer!). I was surprised at the lack of noise at 400 - my camera seems to be quite noisy, and I almost never shoot at ISO400, although I may have to do more inthe future! I"ll have to remember to include the Exif data for all my photos now!

The black and white works good, though I'm curious about the original sky color...

Interesting, I like the original as much, if not better than the edited version (didn't think that'd be possible). The colors of the sky are muted, but very pleasing nonetheless and the quality of the silhouette is just as good. Both of these are very nice.

Gotta say I like the original...colors of the sky are real nice and for me it give me more of sense of area....
