I think you were on the right track (sky underexposed, flash as primary light source) however for this to really be effective, you may need to get the light source off the camera. Otherwise you will have to settle for flat frontal lighting from the onboard flash that sometimes casts unwanted shadows. The rooftop location is good but you need a little more attention to background detail ( pipes and railing) that will show up in the photo.

i agree i don't like the shadow of his leg, i didn't really have much time to set up the shot at all, being somewhere where i wasn't supposed to be and all... also he didn't know i was going to take a picture i just did it



but thank you for your advise i will try to take more notice to my background
