I think it's great what a cutie. I find the out of focus area in the bottom left hand corner kind of distracting maybe cropping off some of the bottom may help but It's really not that big of a deal.

A nice capture ,& i like the shadow cast by the crab but there seems to be a shadow cast over the crab making him a tad dark . i cheched it out on flicker & noted the f l was 70mm ? just curious .

The sun was at the crab's back. the shadow being cast over the crab is actually from the top of his shell.

As for the focal length of 70mm... what were you curious about?

I think this is a great shot.
I love negative space, so I like the OOF left corner... I think it makes the viewer divert their attention to the In-Focus portion of the frame. I think the lighting and shadows are great. and I really like how the eyes (I think that's what they are) are kind of bugging out of the front of the shell.
Well done!

Edit: As for the shadow, you can lighten him up a little using curves in PS. Easily done.
Dupe your layer, lighten the top one, add a mask and mask off the background so it's not blown out and flatten! Done!

Is it really that dark on y'alls moniters? It doesnt look like I lost any detail in the shadows on my moniter. I can lighten it more if it is too dark but it looks ok on my screen. I am using a new laptop so I am not too sure how to moniter is calibrated my old laptop seemed to be pretty spot on as far as the colors and contrast and brightness went.

NO... I don't think it's TOO dark, some people don't like shadows...
I can see his spotty legs. LOL
I was only giving an example if you wanted to lighten it up as previously suggested...

other then the out of focus foreground to the left....minor....
what if you cropped from the bottom just a tad would that help it?

great shot! I can almost picture the crab actually digging and kicking out the
sand.
