Default A Moment in time

Comments please ,I converted this photo to B&W ,then did a slight orton effect ,to give it a bit of a dreamy effect ,added the frame & text ,then added color fill of pale pink transparancy 95% . I do know that the photo is slightly over exposed on the right hand side ,but feel the emotion captured was a good trade off . does anyone have any post editing tips ,to help with what i have done here ? should the pink stay or go ? Have i looked at it too long & it is not as good as I think , cause i do like it alot ,but wonder what others see ,your comments please ,good or bad .

I like it the way it is. The overexposed part on the side is not too distracting and adds to the feel. It reminds me of the pictures my aunt took of my sisters and I, when we were young.

It's a beautiful moment, as you said. I think that a bit of a crop and some contrast adjustments would make it a bit nicer though? I had to crop out your border to show what I meant about cropping the photo itself. I think the close crop enhances the feeling?

It looks like I've made it a bit too dark but the idea is there anyway.

Thanks Marmalade ,that was the look i was going for , glad that the overexposed part was not a issue for you either ,one never knows how others will view our photos ,sounds like you saw what i saw . Robin , I can see what you mean by a closer crop , I had not croped it , and I tryed a tad more contrast , too much takes the dreamy Orton effect from the photo ,but a tad more like you said i think works well . How is this in comparision to the first ?

I like the crop I think it gives you more of the warm fuzzy feeling you were going for and now the overexposure is even less distracting - if at all.

Thank you so much Marmalade & Robin , I am happier with it now ,it was great of you to have helped me so much with this , sometimes we are a little too close to see the photo with an objective eye ,that was true for me with this one , my daughter & grand son , I know she will be happy with this version , I am , thanks again .

i'm sorry i took so long to comment on your image.....work has been a real booger this week.....

it's a beautiful shot, snapdragon.....and i think the original crop is more to my liking......the pink that you were speaking of is lost on me.....i can't see it at all.....the only changes i might try to improve this is to deepen the blacks a smidge with levels and leave your midtones and highlights where they are.....

thanks....they look so very peaceful.....

Thanks peeper , the pink is only a 5%, so not enough to see but it does add a warmth to the B&W , I did save my first photo ,the one with out crop & i added a bit of shadow to it , my program is a little different than photo shop ,but I think this is what you ment .

Personally I would like to see a little more contrast, not a lot but there should be some definite black in there.
