Default New Mexico Lake

CirrusClouds

Found this lake while on a drive in New Mexico. Of course shot with my E-500. I lost the exif info when I edited it but I did actually shoot in in raw.

Not sure the water's edge works for me, it splits the photo in half.
I am curious about two things...where is the focus point and did you raise the saturation up?

I think the mountain would look better if it was more green.. but other than that, it's great!

Alenz you are right, how about this version? But what did you mean where is the focal point? Wouldnt that be the mountain and its framed by the trees?

in your previous photo the water appeared to be out of focus...(maybe
my eyes)
so what about the saturation is it bumped up?

and yes I think this works for me. I was under the impression that a one of the rules is to never place horizons dead center?

in anycase, some rules are meant to be broken

yea there is the rile of thirds which in 99% of cases works, my first photo was not an exception to that rule.Sometimes you just need another opinion to pount out what you, yuorself doesnt see. Thank you
And yes I bumped up the stauration as it was quite, quite dull and also gave the leaves a bit more hue.
it's the same picture but are you saying in the second one the water looks more in focus? Maybe cause there is less of?

I tryed my hand at it and found that adjusting the levels helped. Go to image, adjustments, levels or command L and click on the where it says RGB next to channel go to green to start with, I found slightly moving the grey slider to the left to about 1.20 helped a little and to change the blues from being green go to blue on the same channels selector and move the white one to about 200 and the grey one to around 60. Enjoy.
