I like the composition of the shot but I would've liked to see more detail in the monkey. Its face and half of its body are too dark to see any detail, like a silhouette. I don't know if you were aiming for that or not, but its an ok shot in my opinion. Maybe some editing can bring back a little of the detail. I looked at some of your other shots and liked some of them too, though others appeared a little dark.

I like how the tree leads you up to the monkey. I would have liked to see his/her face though and the rest of the tail. I know animals don't always pose and behave the way you want them to.

Hello again!
Thanks for the comments. I kind of liked the fact that part of the monkey was in silhouette. I liked the mood it gave. Do you guys like this one better? We can see the monkey's face better and the background is less busy. Thanks again for your comments and crits!

I do like the background bokeh, it serves to highlight the sharpness of the monkey and really bring the monkey into the foreground.
THere;s a little tree branch in the background in the upper right which is a little distracting, maybe you could photoshop it out? I think that a follow-up to this shot would be to use a longer lens, because I"m interested in the monkey's face! I do like your composition however. . . .

Vii, Welcome
For both photos, consider portrait orientation next time. That way you could get the tail in, too. Animals are best when complete, or taken in closeup to get facial details. Cutting off just a tail or a paw or an ear looks incomplete.

you had a difficult situation to expose for.....if you exposed for the monkey, the background would blow out......if you have editing software and are not opposed to using it, then you can lift the shadows and find more of your subject in them.......
