Default tillandsia take two....

IMG_5429

after following some constructive criticism on a previous tillandsia thread, i reshot this plant elevated on a music stand against my driveway.....it shows the whole of the plant now....you can see now how light and airy this thing is....

so, is this any better than my first try?

thanks

Oh now this is interesting... I haven't seen the first try so I can't compare the two, but its really difficult to tell what I'm looking at at first glance, but only in an interesting way.

I can't really critique this shot, other than to say wow, nice shot!

It certainly makes the airplant stand out but I'd like to see ikt in full colour. Good work though.

bahgheera....thank you for your comments...i'm not sure how to post a link to the thread.....but, here goes....this is the original tillandsia thread....

tillandsia tease...

nathan, this plant was hard for me to decide what color background suited it...the center was a waxy deep green and the leaves all tapered out to a dust filmed grey...maybe you'll be able to see that in this same shot before the processing....

thanks

Hi peeper:
I really liked the colors, contrast on the first photo!!! The positioning of the subject in this one is better. I like them both. If you could combine the colors and contrast (and the black background)of the first photo with this placement of the plant I think you would have a truly outstanding photo....Thanks for sharing

bentwing...you're right....the contrast was way better in the first edit with the black background.....i think i'm going to try reproccessing this picture to a dark background and see what happens.....if that fails.....i'll reshoot this poor plant again on black and elevate it like the second shot....

thank you for your comments...you guys are the ones who make my images better.....

I like the first shot the best. The colors are more bold, and the background doesn't take away from the subject. In the second shot, plant fades into the patio. I do like the vignetting in the second shot though. It adds a nice, finished look to the picture. If you want to try something different with the plant, try taking the picture at night with a few candles around it. I bet the green stands out more, and the light might accentuate the lines and shadows in the plant.

houstondvr, thanks for your comments....i liked the mood of the first shot the best too......but, the plant placement was all wrong....

the candle idea is a thought.....it seems like it would lend a real sense of shape to it....

thanks again...

Another nice shot of the very nice plant. I think this one has the hand-drawn feel to it. The crack in the driveway actually adds a nice contrast of ideas in the scene. Artificial stuff that failed the test of time vs an organic stuff that is blooming with grace.

I like this one just as much as the first shot you took.
