Default Top of the temple-Nepal

Is this shot too busy ? taken with a point & shoot. Retouched the colors a bit (just initiating myself to photoshop). By the way, what's the best way to learn how to use photoshop, aside from just mucking around? No classes in English around here

yeah, the first thing that struck me about this shot is there is certianly a lot going on! i do really like the 4 women. they are well framed and make a nice focal point. maybe you could leave them in color, then make the rest of the shot b&w and wash it out a little?

well, i just have a cheap photoshop knockoff program for now... but it can do most of what i want to/know how to do.

i selected just the women, then inverted the selection (so the women would be the only part of the pic not selected) and feathered the edges very slightly to smooth out anywhere my selection wasn't so clean. then i converted the selected area to black and white, turned up the brightness and turned down the contrast. i also used a "soften the edges" feature built in to my cheap little program to get that white border. not sure how basic/detailed of an explanation you were asking for... hope that helps.

Now, I am left with a choice: finally finish writing the paper I must discuss tomorrow or open this photo in photoshop and play away!!! Being the eternal procrastinator I am, I am tempted, but guess I'll play with the photo this weekend
