Nice action catch! I like how you can see the bottom of the board and its design.

I hope you don't mind (if you do, just let me know and I'll take it down!) - I was going to say that the only thing I'd try to change is to make the skater stand out more, since the dark t-shirt blends in with the dark trees. I had started typing "maybe adding fill light with something like Lightroom might help" then figured, why don't I just try and see if it helps?

Anyway, I increased the fill light a bit, and used Lightroom's target cursor to adjust the curves, and this is what I came out with. It may be a little too bright, but it does make the skater stand out better against the background.

Nice shot!

Yeah i get what you mean.
It's a little hard to do that though.
And no, i don't mind reposting them, only on DPS.
Maybe if i could get some one to have another try?
Would be much appreciated

This is a nice action shot and you seem to have a good sense of timing to capture it. My only suggestion would be to try vantage points other than "eye level." What did you mean when you said your were "trying to learn to use ISO to best effect?" Is it to gain use of faster shutter speeds? Looks like this may have been shot later in the day from the longer shadows.

roll.4.life,

This would be a good shot to experiment on with post production, if you can start with a really good original. It's been cropped here to focus better attention on the skater, who has been moved into the beginning of his skill, in place of the lower, finishing position. Sky is replaced.

This may be more of a suggestion for a new shot, than an actual usable edit, because of the amount of cloning. It is more complex than setting up a new shot. It may help you to see a new view for a retake, or if you really like post production, a way to add clarity and more action.

Thanks for the critique all.

First,
Clockdoc, recently when i posted my Fountain photo you taught me about the ISO and 'Sunny 16' rule. Lately i have been trying to learn how to use these properly as i hadn't taken much notice of them, and some of my photos may have been better for it.

Second,
Jiminy, not saying what you said was wrong, but the shot that you see as the original is the point that he starts the 'trick' at, it would be utterly impossible to take the photo any earlier.
The post-product you have made is amazing and one day i'd love to be able to learn to do what has been presented here. The shot is great and i like the added DOF, it makes the skater stand out a lot more.

Thanks guys.

I like the movement in the picture, and its nicely caught.

Although, i would like to have the sky as a background rather than the trees, it tend to blend in with his shirt.

But a very nice picture, especially with a Point + Shoot camera.
