I was out on Saturday and trying to get some Fall shots around the yard. I saw this and liked the contrast of color and texture. Let me know what you think?

Nice shot,

Good composition, nice dof, even though a little wide,

the only thing i find distracting is the brighter leaf in the background, other than that it appears fine to me, maybe if you cloned it out, or even selected it and darkened it slightly it could possibly help the shot,

ike,

Miss Red,

My kind of view. One subject, in a different place. Were I to change the look, I'd take off some right side and bottom, to get subject in lower right quarter. Then change intensities of two leaves, making b/g red less saturated and darker, larger foreground leaf saturated and brighter. A diagonal composition, subject in focus and framed; this could be good exercise in post production.

I'll echo the others thus far and say it is a nice shot. Good eye spotting it. Jimminy's comments are similar to my views too. I like the color contrasts you have captured and think that the subdued saturation works for the overall image. The one backlit leaf is a slight distraction that you might be able to correct as the others said.

Again, good eye spotting it and photographing it.

A light difuser or a white card could help light the leaf in the forground better. Right now it's being back lit by the sun and is sitting in shadow. Take a white card next time and reflect some light back on to the front of the leaf this should make it glow you will probably want to use a smaller card to get harder light this is something you will have to play around with every subject is diffrent.

Wow! Thank you all for you suggestions! And I see how each of them would help improve this photo! I have so much to learn and would really like to take some classes to help me along in this hobby that is so addicting. And the white card! I will definitely start carrying one in my bag. What a great idea. I see I have so much to learn.

Thank you all again!

you can also use a white card to balance the colors in your image it's a double edged sword
