Default Calves and Calf Leather

I snapped this before class one day, with my 35mm prime. I've shown it to a few other people, and they seem to really like it.

From Flickr you can easily include a medium sized version of the picture here so that people can see what you are talking about straight away (and click for a larger version if they are interested):

ps. You might want to redo that - from your account you can click on all sizes, go to "medium" and copy and paste the HTML that will provide a linked version.

Hi and welcome to the group. Technically, it is a good photo - sharp and nice tonal range. I took a look at your flickr shots and you seem to have a good eye for photojournalistic shots. Pay a little more attention to your backgrounds. I see you are using a D70. What lenses are you using? I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Yeah, I'm using a D70s with the 18-70 mm ED D series. I also have the 70-300mm D series, but currently the camera's not reading the aperture. So that's out of commission. My parents were photo freaks way back when, so I've also got some nice gear kicking around, like one N70(love) and a great Nikkor 105mm portrait lens.

This is a great picture. I really enjoy these sort of shots...as clockdoc put it, photojournalistic shots. Nice and simple...lots of room to stick in your own story. I'm off to check out more on your Flickr page!

I as well like photos that tell a story...nice work...

but I have a question...have you considered possibly isolating the boots to be in color?
or would that change the story.

also the fact that the sole of the boot closest to you is right on the edge...does that
bother you?

The sole issue doesn't bug me much, there might be too much foreground if it was farther from the edge. I had to crop this to make the boots stand out as an object. Unfortunatly, the boots aren't brilliantly colored, otherwise I would have already posted them with color.
