Default Lotus' Life

I just had the blossomed flower in mind when i shot this, but i realized when i was cropping this that i have three separate plants in varying stages (seed, bud, and flower). Too bad the population is starting to decay, hence the dull color. Might it be better if i had a little bit more of the stem from the seed at the bottom?

If you had not mentioned anything about the color I would have thought that you did this on purpose. The background leaves have a kind of acid washed look which sets apart teh brilliant colors of the flower. Very nice shot even it it was not on purpose. I would consider cropping up from the bottom a little. Losing the seed pod and leaving just the bud and the bloom.
