Default Blue Eyes

I shot this candid of my grandson and quite liked it. Any observations or critique?

Straight out of camera? How could anyone find a flaw with that face?! Not me, and whether planned or not, the sparkles on left, and damp hair and spot-on focus, kind of say darn fine photo. Even the framing shows this was important to you. Overall verdict? I've been stalling 'cause I thought I was gonna say 'it's just another baby picture,' but it isn't. You left well-enough alone. The eyes have it. Darn fine photo.

You have all the reasons in the world to like it.
Nice clean shot. Framing and shot angle emphasized the child's facial expression of inquisitive ignorance.
At first, the hands on the corner of the frame bothered me. But looking at the image more, it seems to me that it completed the story.
Congratulations!

Beautiful shot. Sharp, well-composed and nicely lit. And a sweet little model to boot!

I should have commented on the lighting. I was using my Canon Speedlight 580 EX with a Fong Lightsphere II on it. That thing is pretty unweildy, but it sure does a nice job on exposures. I'm not certain why the EXIF says no flash - it definitely had flash!
