Hi JJ and welcome to the group. It is interesting to see what folks shoot when they get a new macro lens. Was there a particular aspect of the phone's TALK button you wanted to show? It helps us as viewers to also have the EXIF data (shutter speed, aperture and ISO) and camera/lens info. In your shot, the whole word 'TALK' is not sharp. Macro lenses have a very shallow depth of field so the angle of the shot and lighting has to be planned out carefully. Using a tripod is recommended but not always practical. Perhaps I can help you more if you have some specific questions.

Lee - I liked the font of the word "talk" and the color. You're right on in regard to the depth of field and focus. As for EXIF data (shutter speed, aperture and ISO) and camera/lens info - I would think that's included in the file, but I copied it over from my Flickr page, so maybe not. I tried directly uploading this picture last night but gave up. I'll work on that tonight. Thanks for your reply.

Hi JJ. Thanks for your quick reply. While it is true that EXIF data is linked to many images uploaded to DPS via flickr, with so many new members and postings, anything that saves a viewer's time is greatly appreciated. If one has to click through the several links to view the EXIF data and then return to the critique page, it can be very time consuming. I guess my point is to make the review as easy as possible for those taking the time to provide a critique.
I see you are using the D80. What is your impression of the D80? What macro lens did you use for this shot?

Default D80

I love the D80, it's an awesome camera - a bit of a learning curve for an amateur like myself, but I have never felt that it's over my head. Intuitive controls and menus, that's for sure. I'm using Nikon's 60 mm macro lens, which is sweet.
