I like this shot, but I can't decide if it's ruined by the fact that the guy is running out of the frame. Would appreciate your opinions on this, as well as any other critique.

It is a nice shot and many non-photographers probably wouldn't notice him walking out of the shot.

i agree it is a nice shot....and unless you had not said something, i would have never noticed he was going for a latte to the left.......

thanks...

I see it more as he is running to the sea and not out of the shot. I think it adds action to the shot, I like it

I don't think that his going out of the frame ruins the shot.
It adds some kind of mistery to it.

Let's just say you meant the shot to be as is, that the surfer's going to the left represents his boldness to march toward unforeseen adventures

Thanks for the opinions everyone! I will stop worrying about it, and let him surf off into the sunset

I agree. It looks more like he is going straight then to the left. Beautiful picture, makes me want to go to the beach.

I really love the colors in this. And with the backlighting it's almost impossible to tell which way he's really going.

Thanks Marmelade and Waffles. Apparently flickr's computers also weren't bothered by the direction he's running in, since this shot is my first to make it to their "explore" page. Which is kind of perplexing since there are so many superior photos on there, but nice all the same.
