Default Fall postcard

Ok, this looked a lot better on my monitor, and printed out than it does on Flickr. For some reason, Flickr dulls the colors.

Any way... I took this today, and played with the colors. The yellows and the oranges are supposed to be brighter. I also croped to 5X7.

It's not flickr, it's your browser. Try using the sRGB color space when you're doing image edits, it should help.

Agreed. sRBG is the internet standard for color.

Aside from that -

as viewed, the colors are a little on the flat side for a landscape photo. The house / barn is blown out a bit and feels a little too centered without much symmetry.

Otherwise - i like the sky tone and the positioning of the three levels of scenery - fore, middle and background. I'm sure editing / converting to sRBG will fix your color issues - maybe update this thread with a new one?

When I saved the photo, the option I had was "ProPhoto RGB" There was no "sRGB" option. I'm using CS2.

Open the Image

1. Go to IMAGE > Mode > RGB on the file menu then save the image as a jpg.

I always find this a bit confusing. If he goes and converts the picture to sRBG will he have to remember to convert it back to prophoto RBG before he prints it again, he said it looked fine on his monitor.

Here is a screen shot. The mode is RGB color, set at 8 bits/Channel. This is what I'm lookin at.

This is my "Save as" dialog box.
Save as dialog

When I was saving these screen shots, the color option was sRGB.

Figured it out. My camera was set to Adobe RGB color, not sRGB color. I've reset my camera, so from now on my uploads will match my views.

You might also want to calibrate your monitor. I use a Spyder to do it. Now everything is accurately displayed when I edit. I also calibrated all the monitors in the house, it is nice when you see things the way they are supposed to be.
