Default Pink Flower

PinkFlowerCrop

I like the flower's color. I tried a few angles and want to have another go at it soon. This is one of the better ones that I took. I was wondering if the crop was tight enough because I can't decide if my eyes wander from the flower to easily.

I love roses and I like to photograph them, too. Although I like the off-center composition, generally I've found getting in close to show the detail works the best. Some of the background may compete with the rose itself. It may also help to make sure your focus on the rose is sharper.

for these types of pictures you would want to use a much larger aperture (smaller number) to blur the background as it is boring and distracting. this will also help you get faster shutter speeds so you can use a lower iso with less noise.
i would suggest a tight square crop right around the flower.

practice, practice
