Default Flowers

I took these inside my house and although I do like them I'd like to know what your suggestions would be to improve them. Feel free to edit them and post them again to illustrate your point

You can also look at the other pics I posted on my flickr page. They're very similar tho

Thanx

The first one is a bit confusing to me as the inside if out of focus, while the flower's stamen (I think that's what the middle thing is called) and outside of the petals are in focus. The second one everything is nice and sharp except the flower stamen. Curiosity strikes me, wondering if you could cut and paste...

Great colors though, and the background really helps fill the frame nicely. Nice work!

Default Any EXIF data available?

Especially the f-stop?

Japaslavian,
The "bluriness" in the first photo, I suspect arises from a very low f-stop. This normally opens up the lens aperture (to increase the light reaching the sensor, and allowing a faster shutter speed). However, by opening up the aperture, you narrow your depth of field (ie how much background or foreground is in focus).

Either that or you just caught the back of the focal plane, but using a similar aperture to that of shot 2!!!

The second photo in contrast has a higher f-stop, but consequently longer DOF and more of the flower is visible.

I do like the colours, Claudita. I think the white flower in the top left acts as a nice counterpoint to the overall pinkness of the scene!

I love stargazer lillies- very beautiful. could you have used the natural lighting at all? The flash is a bit distracting and overpowering for such a delicate flower.

unfortunately there wasn't much light available, i took some shots with natural light but they came out too dark
i didn't think of taking some more shots the next day with natural light instead of the flash.

Thanx for the comment!
