if you get time can you show me what you mean or explain this to me. i really loved this old building with its stone pillars under the porch. it was very shady being amongst the woods and by the river so i had trouble with shadows.

Hi,
By your question I assume you are talking about the converging lines? If you look at the posts on the porch, they are relatively upright and square to the screen. Then look at the front corber by the wheel. As it gets higher, it starts to lean in gently. The back right hand corner leans even more. This is a characteristic of the wide angle focal length of the lens coupled with the fact that the camera was probably not square with the lines of the building. It is pretty had to avoid this, especially the taller the building become. However I understand the newer versions of Photoshop have a way of correcting this to a degree. Perhaps someone with a newer of Photoshop could run it through to show the difference. If that is not what you were asking about, please let me know. I think you did a nice job considering the lighting ratios you had to deal with.

This has a great rustic feeling to it. I really like (as you mentioned) the stone pillars holding the deck up. It really tells of the age of the place (It is old, right?
). Being shot at 2 in the afternoon I imagine the light was on the harsher side? If this place is nearby you, I think I would try to venture out there later in the day, maybe an hour or so before sunset to get the soft, warmer sun light.

From what ive been told it is original. Its about 60 miles from me so i could go and try for another shot at sunset ( if the snow stays away a bit longer)
it reminded me of little house on the prairie and i just enjoyed seeing how things were back in those days. |

Nice shot! I agree, I love the rustic feel of this. Japaslavian definitely has something. If you could get this later in the day around sunset (or if you can really wake up for it) sunrise might be a nice effect, it would provide great colors. The building is also a little centered. Going with the Rule of Thirds, by moving the building a bit to the right of the picture, it doesn't take the focus off of it but makes an interesting feel. I can't explain it as well as most but I know it would help. Other than that, great shot though! Keep it up!
