I think the exposure is good although it is a difficult kind of scene, with dark and bright areas. I might have slightly underexposed it to get richer colours although that may be better done afterwards using an image manipution program to give more control.

The areas that might be improved are ones that would apply whether the shot was on full manual or full automatic - the picture is a bit soft with nothing sharply in focus and it seems to be leaning slightly to the left.

However, if it is your first time going full manual, I can certainly understand getting distracted by setting the exposure and forgetting to pay attention to other details.

Cropped a little tight. What was your reason for going manual here? Were you just experimenting with different combinations of f/stops and shutter speeds? Or were you favoring the f/13 to bring in the ducks in the foreground with the tree in the back ground. Did you also manually focus?

Thanks for the comments guys.

I was going manual because I think I should be able to shoot manual if required so Ineeded the practice. As Wulf says I probably concentrated too much on getting the exposure right and forgot about everyrhing else. So yes I was just experimenting.

Manually focus? No, autofocus throughout. That's the next stage

It is good to learn to use your camera manually. Since most of my subjects are static, like flowers, I stay in that mode most of the time, which allows me to take full responsibility for the combination of ISO, shutter speed, aperture and other factors that create the nuances of the resulting exposure. It doesn't take long before it becomes quite natural.
