Hi,
I think that's quite good actually. Just my opinion, but perhaps you could make everything apart from the Pepsi can black and white? It might be more powerful as a split tone (?) picture? Cheers D. |

I like the concept as well. But I feel that the Coke cans should be facing the Pepsi can. That would put emphasis on the fact that they have him surrounded.
Also, the cans are leaning to the right, which doesn't feel right. Last edited by Jamesc359; 10-19-2007 at 07:55 PM. |

Thanks for the reply's
tenjin, cool idea - but i'm afraid that my PS skills isn't good enough for that - but if yours are - you're welcome to give it a shot. hpbly3, i was trying to adjust it a bit in PS - but couldn't really decide what looked best. Guess practise makes perfect ![]() clockdoc, my lightsource is a fluorescent lamp, and the WB was set to Auto but playing around with some of the pre-set modes might help. I'll keep that in mind, thanks ![]() Jamesc359, i was trying to make them "face" the poor pepsi can by turning the "hole" you drink off towards the pepsi - but it looks like i missed two in the background. An ye..you're right...they are leaning to the right...i'll fool around with it in PS later

Picture 2 doesn't really do anything for me because now it's all very dark and you can't tell on first glance that it's coke and pepsi cans.
I do have some suggestions for future shots of it though And easy suggestions too . I like the concept. But you're right about the background. Go to your local store and buy a piece of posterboard (light weight white card in a big sheet). You know, the stuff that kids make posters out of. Place that against the wall so that it forms a curve at where the wall meets the floor / counter. That would give you a solid white surface (if that's the kind of look you want to go for). Now, a tripod works wonders here because you can expose long enough that the cans are bright and you don't have the flash reflecting. You have the D80, so try setting it on manual with an aperture around f/4-8 and adjust the shutter speed until the white looks white and the colours are brighter. There are some technical thoughts on the matter.I still like the concept and I think it would also be funny if you had a spilled can of pepsi surrounded by the coke cans... soda-cide? lol

Thanks alot for your feedback Nicole - i agree you...i wasn't really please with the result of picture 2 myself, but i think if the pepsi-can could be as "bright" as on the original it would be better.
I'll see if i can find some posterboard in this godforsaken town (it's very small so the shopping possibilities isn't that big, but i'll give it a try ) I do have a tripod (and i did use it) so no flashing here ![]() ![]() haha, i like the idea of a soda-cide ![]() again, thanks for your words - i'll keep it in mind for the next cola-battle |

you could also use a sheet instead of posterboard. That way it would be easier to get. I like the first picture better than the b & w but the colors do need to be bumped up so that you know its a blue can in a sea of red. Just my thoughts
