Shot through glass at a Sens vs. Thrashers game in Atlanta.

ISO 400, 218mm, f/5.0, 1/125 sec. I already know the ISO was set a little high, but I was in the middle of testing the settings to see what worked best. I did some post processing: crop, exposure adjustments, but that's it.

More shots from that night can be found here.

Nice capture! Do you think the brighter ice in the background affected your exposure? How did you meter this one. Looks like an overhead light has added some highlights to his hair, moustache and goatee. Good sharpness for 218mm.

Thanks. And yes, the bright ice certainly made things tricky. I'd never shot a hockey game before and it's definitely not easy! I have no idea how I metered it because I'm really not sure how to find that out.

That's a really good shot. Hard to believe it was thru glass. I've always wondered how hard it wood be to shoot hockey with all the lights glaring down on white ice. I think you did too good.

If you still have the exif in tact on the picture (not sure if you do or not since it wasn't on the flickr page), then it should tell you the metering mode there (or at least if you were using center weighted, spot, or matrix/evaluative metering).

I think that this is a good shot You really managed to get everything balanced well for the situation. I'd imagine the lights cast a colour tone on everything, and from what I've read, getting ice to be white can also be difficult if you don't want to screw up the rest of the picture. The skin colour looks just slightly cool, but that could be my monitor or the lighting or whatever.

I think that you framed the picture well. Getting in close really works with this shot. Yep, that's about it. Nicely done.
