I was going to crop out the light in the upper left corner and then decided to leave it alone. CC please

Hi campc07:
Nice shot, red and green color are so vivid and DOF is in first instance pretty well. IMHO there are some things in your photo causing trouble. There are many objects calling my eye's attention. First, the red fruit (which is a little bit out of focus or has some shake - try a higher shutter speed next time), the second object are the leafs and the third one are the watter drops. Maybe you can zoom out your photo and get those objects together creating one object or you can focus on only one, following the rule that "less is more". Those are my thoughts. Thanks for sharing it!

campc07,

A crop to isolate the middle left section, with berries, one leaf and one water drop, would be a stronger composition. Your first instinct was good, the white spot only distracts.

I think the aperture was too wide for this distance; as a result, the depth of field is minimal. I can see where it falls, a band of sharpness across the leaves in front of the berries. Stopping down a position or two and compensating by upping the ISO or reducing the shutter speed (or using aperture priority mode and letting the camera figure it out) would still give a pleasantly blurred background but allow you to capture the top of the leaves and the front of the berries more sharply.

Thanks for the input. If it is not raining today I'll reshoot.
