Default Parkade

I've been wanting to do this shot for a while. It's a picture of a parkade in Edmonton and the unique thing about this parkade is that cars use the exit ramp that spirals on the inside (lots of fun to drive). Also from the center looking up, it's wide open air to the sky, which begs for a photo session. This is like probably the best shot I've taken in 2 months of buying my camera. A bit of post-processing done to make it look cool for my windows desktop. C&C always welcome. I'm curious about my composition for geometric arhitectural shapes like this.

It's a great subject for a photo and you've captured it well IMO. Although the main focus point is central I think it works really well. The only thing I think which would maybe improve it further, would be to lighten the building up as it circles in towards the sky, as atm it's just a bit too dark and gives off a bit of a gloomy feel. I would suggest using layers/masks for this, would be the simplest way I think. Anyway, just IMO, great photo nonetheless

I like the perspective, but I would want to try and shoot this at night with a starry sky and long shutter speed. It would be kind of cool to see some star trails and keep with the rotating theme.

Good eye for an interesting perspective. A little on the dark side on my monitor so I can't really enjoy the geometric spirals. Have you experimented with any off-camera flash (although this structure may be a little too tall for a decent effect.)

I like this shot. I wish I could find these subjects. I guess I need to get out for more "strolls."

I wonder what it would look like from a dead center perspective and use of a wider angle lens.

Love shots like this...my favorite thing to shot is architecture. I would select the circle f sky invert and raise the exposure then adjust contrast then deselect.....Great shot though I really like this and think a dramatic bit of sky and some lighter tones on the building would make a nice B&W.
I just noticed some lights around the spiral maybe would be nice to have a go at it at night....got a tripod? Would love to see a night shot with the edges of the walls lit up...

good eye for the graphic composition.....and i kinda like how it's so dark inside....it makes the sprials more organic....it's just great and i'm envious!

there's something about the crop though.....i know you took a lot of photos...there's a shot in there that would bring the opening down to bottom right third where the spirals just so happen to be shortest....i think it would be ideal....

anyway....thanks for a wonderful shot....

Thanks for all the good feedback guys. I took about 30 pictures and this was one that told me, "Wait, lets stare at that a bit more" so I used it. There was no cropping involved. I did try b&w really quickly, but there was not enough contrast between walls and the shadows to be outstanding. I do have a tripod though, but I will wait a couple of months to try this again when sunrise is MUCH later in the day. :-)
