Default Dusk

All right - this is my first attempt at shooting at dusk and trying to fiddle with the aperture and shutter speed. I really have trouble with this but so far I've broken it down to small number = big opening, big number = small opening. That said, I tried to get the smallest f number possible with this shot but it would only go to 4.5. I don't have the EXIF data as photobucket is only showing it as the file size and time it was taken. Maybe adjusting the contrast in PS caused that glitch?

Anyways - any help is welcome. I tried to frame the picture between both bridges and get some of the reflections in the water too. I'm not sure how good I did though. :S

Peach,

The reflections are a good strong part of the photo. The bridges are massive and imposing, more like main subjects than frames. And the cutting off halfway of each is distracting even more. While the buildings in the skyline may be familiar to you, they are not a strong subject.

If more of a dusk sky could have been included, it would make it all the better (given title and goal). If you were to move left to focus attention more on the dramatic "A" shaped bridge, a little later into dusk, while keeping the reflections, that would up the interest several times over.

You did well. And you can do even better with a variety of experiments in where you stand, what you focus on, and when. Be curious, shoot more, and enjoy.

Peach,

A hundred times better, and I hope you like it as much as I do. Your subject's clear and dramatic, b/g is enough to show locale, and dusk looks great. A proud effort, well done.

Jiminy, this one is my favorite of last night's attempt to control aperture and shutter speed (dont think I didn't that great but oh well, that's what learning's about). I do like the other one too, but yes - this is by far my favorite

Thank you

funny how different two shots with the same subject, same lighting conditions and exposure, can end up affecting me entirely different ways ...that second shot is real nice, peach.....

thanks for sharing...
