I've been getting emails regularly and reading the tutorials and enjoying them. I have posted a few of my pictures on other sites for feedback but only got a few comments. So either my pictures just plain suck or they just don't get much response. So with a deep breath here are a few of my pictures. My style (if I have a style) is a bit different. I do touch up to create a look I like, but I am guessing as I improve I may spend more time taking then post processing. I have an Olympus E500 and got it in January this year - my first ever SLR. Thankyou in advance for any feedback, critisisms and advice.

Hi BLUXX:
First welcome to the DPS forum. Hope you enjoy it as most of us do. Second let me recall you that the rules for Critique My Shot is just one photo per thread. Now for the comments you search I can say I only like the first one. I like the idea you managed with black and the pose of your model. Photo number 2 has some noise that IMHO is not necessary. . And photo number 3 also IMHO, you take the post processing in no direction. I mean, you burn the background but let the halo around the model, burned the chest of the model but let whiter areas near the dress, and you darken the cheeks but blown up the lights in the front. I don't mean to be so tight in my comments but, those are my thoughts. I think you maybe want to master some style and then explore new areas, because each photo you pasted has it's unique style. Keep working and waiting for more post of you. Thanks for sharing! PD. Sorry for my English.

I really like the effect in the first shot...it's nicely composed and a solid photo.
The second one is a neat idea, but it just looks like a hurried snap. The burned out top right is maybe what detracts from it. The third one...It comes off as post for the sake of post. I'm not a big fan of heavy processing like this though, so my opinion is obviously skewed that way. #1: thumbs up #2: potential, but shoot carefully #3: don't care for it

Yep, like oriolhdz said, next time, 1 photo per thread. But, that aside, I agree quite a bit with what has already been said. I really do quite like the first one. I think it's very interesting, and the post-processing has really made it a good shot because of how the dress blends into the background so only the arms/legs/head stands out. It's also good posing. The third one to me isn't bad, it has a kind of painting type quality to it because of the smoothness of it and the halo effect. It just doesn't stand out as much as the first one.
Welcome to the forums bluxx Hope to see you posting more threads, etc in the future.

Hi all and thanks so much for your feedback. A big sorry about the mulitple pics - didn't know but I should've found out. Sorry.
With the pictures, thanks for the feedback. As a beginner I don't know if what I take is interesting or not, or considered a good shot, but your feedback is really welcome and I look forward to learning more from this great forum. Bluxx |

appreciate yours and all the people's responses. This is a great forum to get honest feedback and I am not sure if it's just me but sometimes I feel like I'm alone in this photography thing and am not sure if I am doing ok or am way off track and producing junk. It's great to get feedback and guidance.

I love the first one!I really like the second one, the expression is fantastic, I agree though it is noisy. (I am just learning what noise is
) Welcome to DPS!! I have a feeling you will really like it!
