I think that it's a really lovely shot. You know what I would love to see is an abstract sort of shot of just the feathers on the body (which has absolutely nothing to do with your shot... perhaps just an idea for a future shot). I'm just loving the colours and textures. Out of curiosity, what lens were you using for this? It's very sharp.

Good detail on the feathers, the eye though is starting to get a bit soft but acceptable still (only really noticeable in the larger images). The leg on the right is bit distracting cloning it out would improve this image. Colour and lighting are great.

Well done.

Thanks Nicole...
I really appreciate the feedback. I used my Nikkor 55-200 AF-S lens for this shot. It's a little slow, but it does the trick.

i've shot these beautiful creatures before and achieved nothing as nice as what you've offered here......the depth of field is perfection as is the color.....

i guess my only criticism is the crop......and mainly because i am not a big fan of the square.....

and really, that's not much to mouth off about.....

great shot, todd.....

Peeper...thank you for your your comments. I happen to be a big fan of a square crop, but I think that in this case, it might be distorting the image a little...

I think the subject is in amazing focus and the colors are beutiful....do you feel the but coming?
I personally do not like the backend of the other one in the background....thats my only gripe.
Great shot!

Pinball....thanks for the feedback. I see your point. May be a tighter more vertical crop would do the trick. I'll give it a try...thanks again!!

Fantastic detail in the feathers. I love the colors, contrast, and depth of field. Nice job on this one!
