Default Innocence

A photo of my beautiful little cousin. I was trying to get some nice grain but it didn't really work. Critique Please.

I would say that, in this case, the grain doesn't really enhance the picture; it might be better to use a lower ISO setting for a smooth result and then experiment with adding "grain" with post processing. As it is, the result destroys the smoothness of the child's skin, detracting from the sense of innocence.

I suppose there is a time and a place for the use of grain in any photo. However, I have to agree with Wulf in that grain here doesn't add to the value of the portrait. You have a good eye of lighting and composition. I'd concentrate on those qualities and forego the grain on this one.
