If that is what you were going for and achieved it, then that is all that matters. Generally speak, though, items that are on the foreground that are very much out of focus act as a sort of "speed bump" in geting one's eye into the picture. The soft keys add an additional hurdle to get over.

You said, "I compd. my flash then i shut it off and went longer exp.With a little more DoF." I am not sure what you meant by this (compd. my flash). Are you saying that you used a combination of flash and ambient light to make the exposure?

Yes,I started to use the flash compensation w/ ambient light at the beginning of the shoot. And with the flash off it looked the same in my eyes. So I used just the ambient light and went to a longer exposure.The gold on the passport was shimmering too much and it was working against me on this shot I felt. Did I clairfy this enough? As I am learning a little bit more lighting technique every day!
