I think your work is fabulous, keep going at it. You have a great eye. I love your bike shots and sunset shots in your portfolio.
Thanks for sharing them.
As for this picture I think that it's missing some contrast. The petal on the right is all lit up but then the center of the flower is really busy so I think that they fight with each other a little bit. maybe you could bring down the back drop to more of a white and then lower the contrast on the right petal to bring your attention the center of the flower?
But your picture, I think, is set up great with the center of the flower of to the side. Over all your work is amazing!!

Yeah, great stuff!... welcome aboard... look forward to seeing lots more of your shots.. this one above, great color... nice and sharp.. i'd personally try a slightly diff crop.. in fom the right a bit (get rid of that dot) and up from the bottom a bit to lose a bit of the strong, slightly distracting green to bring the focus back to the main flower bit.. anyways, welcome!... s

Hi Grant,
Welcome to the group. Nice work for your first posting with your Nikon D40. It would help us greatly if you could post some EXIF data such as lens used, focal length, f/stop and shutter speed as well as ISO. I realize the data is available on your flickr link but it saves considerable time if it is posted with the photo. Do you have a particular area of photography to which you are leaning? I look forward to seeing more of your work posted here.

I gotta say I love some of the shots got there. Seems to me you are well ahead of the curve for your age. Great work! This shot is really nice..I like the composition but think a slightly wider crop might have given it a little more.
Hope to see more....and welcome!
