Default Leaf

Hello everyone, this is my first post here, but enough with the intro, onto my picture.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I was just looking for some shots in my backyard, and thought that this leaf had some great texture to it.

The first thing I noticed wasn't necessarily texture, but curves. Curved leaves, curved veins in the leaves, curved leaf edges. It's a shot about curves. I like it.

Chepito,

When I die, I want to come back as your eyes. Well-seen, clearly captured, thanks for being here. Ummm...curves....

I like the curves, as everyone said... but the thing that strikes me is being in black and white... did u take it in black and white or desaturate it? coz i would be curious to see how a colour version looks..

It is a great composition but looks a little dull on my monitor. I wonder if it would benefit from a little adjustment to bring out a bit more light and throw the darker areas into deeper contrast?

I too wonder what it would look with just a twinge of saturation returned to it.

If you did take it digitally in black and white... my advice would be don't!

You can always desaturate in something like GIMP or Photoshop, but you can't bring back colors that aren't there to begin with!

Second look, yeah, can't see detail in deep shadow, 19-inch monitor. Is there an in-camera solution also? Or is that what you meant?

very nice
I'd like to see it just a tad lighter, though.

I was thinking more in terms of playing round with levels at the post processing stage although you could over expose a similar shot a bit longer to get more detail in the shadows in-camera.

It may, of course, look great on Chepito's set up or when printed out.

I love the shapes and composition of this photo, but I too find it too dark. Would be keen to see it in colour, and / or after adjustments of brightness / contrast perhaps.

Great shot otherwise though, evocative.
