sueq54172, Welcome

More info will help: camera settings, time of day, what you hoped would stand out here.

Even though the sky is pure white, the layers of hills below it are a nice touch. Overall the day looks overcast, so shadows are muted. Tree in foreground has detail that being lighter would help to bring out. Composition is interesting, more for the tree height than the bayou. Good view.

I enjoy this shot and really like the faint image of the hills way in the back. Overcast seems to be an understatement. Have you tried playing with the shot at all in post?

here is the info and I'm disappointed cause I shot in auto mode. I don't think I did anything to it in post processing but it looks like I may have lightened the overall picture. I was trying to get the dead tree and some of the wetlands too. This was a picture I took not long after I had just gotten my camera.

sueq54172,

If you are still unsure about what an edit might achieve, perhaps this will encourage you to try a rescue. It's a pretty good photo, and some work brings that out:

I grew up in Louisiana and this shot brings back memories. I like the depth you have captured in the scene. The sky edit that Jiminy added looks good. My only other comment would be about cutting off the tree top. Granted, you may not have been able to move back far enough or the tree may have just been too tall. Just my humble opinion. 8-)

Actually, I had cropped it to cut off the tree top because of a bunch of power lines. But now that I learned how to use the clone tool I will play around with it a bit. That's an amazing edit by the way!

sueq54172, Thanks

There are about six layers: sky, brush areas, water spots and hills. Each was adjusted to keep the distance/haze illusion. Not hard, just takes a little time. Good luck with it.
