Default The Pierce Place Buildings

I've got a few more of these I'd like to post for critique, but I'd like to start with this one. The color and lighting around this place are incredible! I did no color editing at all for this photo. Just some minor sharpening.

Thoughts? BTW, this was taken with my new Sigma OS 18-200mm lens. So far I'm really likin it. Especially since I only have to do very little sharpening in the computer now.

Good sharpness! At 21mm focal length you can see some distortion creeping in on the smaller building at the left. Your main building appears to be fairly vertical. With the morning light did you also shoot from an angle where more of the lit face of the building was not blocked by the tree in the foreground? Perhaps this would be a candidate for High Dynamic Range since so much of the scene is in shadow. Beautiful blue sky that probably has a place in shots like this but IMHO it needs a few clouds to add some interest.

I actually did take a shot with the sun off the building AND on a day with clouds on the blue sky! I haven't posted it yet - mainly because I'm trying to clone out a blemish from the sun. It flares off the building and looks really cool until it hits a clouded area and then becomes ugly. Unfortunately, I'm having a very hard time cloning it out in the clouded area. It looks very unatural when I do it. I'm using Paint.Net. No Photoshop yet.

Your right the colour and lighting are incredible. I would like to see if you could get the photo with out the trees in it. Not sure if there is room to move in front or not but I would like to see what it would look like with out the trees blocking the contrast of the buildings and the sky on the right hand side as well. Still a solid photo IMO. How do you like your new lens I have just gotten the nikkor one with the same zoom and can't wait to use it. Hopefully it will cut down on the amount of lens changes.
